Knew something was on its way ... because he had told me so.
It was about ten days ago when Mike, one of my best friends, emailed me,
saying "a tidbit is on its way to you by snail mail."
What could it be, I wondered.
A sense of anticipation kept building up, as this friend of mine in Wisconsin
really loves to surprise me with things that are exotic and unusual.
Take, for example, the yellow cheesehead hats he sent me years ago.

Or, the figurine of a cow wearing an astronaut helmet named Mooooonwalk.
It turned out to be one of the art works for the CowParade either in Chicago
or New York.
So when this "something" arrived today, I was a bit surprised to see a thin,
regular envelope. Is this it, I said to myself. But what also crossed my mind
was the saying: "Good things come in small packages."
I was right. See what I found in the envelope.
It was the card (in fact, several cards) of a restaurant named just like
my first name.
Apparently, Mike spotted this Japanese restaurant during his trip to Albany
and thought he should collect and send me some cards ... for fun ... and
perhaps to cheer me up.
Together with his little note, this card came as a truly pleasant surprise.
Thanks, Mike. You've really made my day.
Oops, I almost forgot to mention about the beautiful stamps he always select
for me. This time it was Edgar Allan Poe.
An avid reader of my blog sent me a hilarious suggestion last night.
"Next time a client is being difficult, just hand him one of those
cards and announce -- hey, I don't need this %#&@, I've got
a worldwide restaurant empire!!"
Um ... sounds like a great idea. (ha ha)
